Jon Rotolo

Co-Founder

Jon Rotolo is a Founder of Great Mountain Partners. Prior to this, he was the head of the Private Equity and Real Asset group at Barings, a $300+ Billion institutional asset manager, and chaired the group’s Investment Committee. Before joining Barings, Jon was a co-founder of Wood Creek Capital Management where he served in various roles spanning a decade including CEO & Chief Investment Officer, President, and Chief Operating Officer. Wood Creek was acquired by MassMutual in 2014 and merged into Barings in 2016. Mr. Rotolo serves on the Board of Managers of the Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund for Medical Research and is an officer of LSJ Charitable Corporation. Mr. Rotolo is a graduate of Hamilton College, Boston University’s Questrom School of Business and Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business. He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Alex Thomson

Co-Founder

Alex Thomson is a Founder of Great Mountain Partners. Prior to this, he oversaw the Media & Entertainment, Pharma & Healthcare and Financial Services portfolios of the Private Equity and Real Asset group at Barings, a $300+ Billion institutional asset manager, and was a member of the group’s Investment Committee. Before joining Barings, Alex was a co-founder of Wood Creek Capital Management where he served in various roles spanning a decade including overseeing the firm’s media and entertainment investments, and heading up business development and investor relations. Wood Creek was acquired by MassMutual in 2014 and merged into Barings in 2016. Mr. Thomson is the Vice-Chairman of Concord, a leading independent music company (www.concord.com). Mr. Thomson is a graduate of Durham University in the UK. 

James Elkins

Managing Director

Jim Elkins is a Managing Director of Great Mountain Partners. Prior to this, he was the Director of Private Markets at the State of Michigan Retirement Systems (SMRS), a $100+ Billion public pension fund. While at SMRS, he helped craft the overall strategy for the Absolute Return, Private Equity, Real Estate and Infrastructure, Real Return and Opportunistic, and Venture Capital investment portfolios. Jim was also the chair of the investment committee. Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Elkins built out and managed the Real Return & Opportunistic and Absolute Return portfolios. Before joining SMRS, he was at Fifth Third Bank in its Corporate Finance Department where he focused on competitive intelligence and peer analysis for the Investor Relations, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Corporate Analysis Division. Prior to joining Fifth Third, he spent over six years with SMRS in the Domestic Equity Division as a portfolio manager/sector specialist focused on financials and technology hardware. Mr. Elkins received a BA in Finance from Michigan State University and an MBA from Central Michigan University.

Julie Niedzwiecki

Managing Director

Julie Niedzwiecki is a Managing Director of Great Mountain Partners. Prior to this, she was a Managing Director in the Private Equity group at Barings, a $300+ Billion institutional asset manager. During her time there, she was a member of the group’s Investment Committee and headed up the Digital Infrastructure and Media & Entertainment investing efforts. Before joining Barings, Julie was a member of the investment team of Wood Creek Capital Management. Julie began her career at Babson Capital Management where she worked in both the Quantitative Management and the Investment Grade Fixed Income groups with a focus on the credit analysis of asset-backed and mortgage-backed securities. She also served on the Board of MassMutual Federal Credit Union and chaired their Asset & Liability Management Committee. Julie holds a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Rhode Island and an M.B.A. from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts.

Ethan Tyminski

Chief Financial Officer

Ethan Tyminski is the Chief Financial Officer of Great Mountain Partners. Prior to this, he was Global Controller of Galata Chemicals, LLC, a global producer of specialty chemicals. Before joining Galata, Ethan was a Director at Barings, a $300+ Billion institutional asset manager, where he was involved in portfolio company operations and risk management. Before joining Barings, he was the Controller of Wood Creek Capital Management. Wood Creek was acquired by MassMutual in 2014 and merged into Barings in 2016. Previous to this role, Ethan held roles in Controllership at General Electric and worked in public accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Tyminski serves on the Board of Directors of the Amistad Charter School in New Haven. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.

Greg Smith

General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer

Greg Smith is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Great Mountain Partners. Prior to this, he was a Senior Attorney at the Maples Group, an independent provider of fiduciary, fund services, regulatory and compliance, and entity formation and management services. Before joining Maples, Greg was a Director at Barings, a $300+ Billion institutional asset manager, where he was involved in product development and portfolio management. Before joining Barings, he was Corporate Counsel and the Chief Compliance Officer of Wood Creek Capital Management. Wood Creek was acquired by MassMutual in 2014 and merged into Barings in 2016. Prior to this role, Mr. Smith held roles with another investment manager and worked in private practice. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Connecticut and Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Julian McIntyre

Senior Associate

Julian McIntyre is a Senior Associate at Great Mountain Partners, where he is responsible for performing due diligence on new investment opportunities and assisting with portfolio company operations. Previously, Julian was an Associate at Shamrock Capital Advisors in Los Angeles, where he focused on equity and credit investments in the Media & Entertainment sector. Prior to that, he was an Analyst on the Private Equity & Real Assets team at Barings. Julian graduated Cum Laude from Dartmouth College with a degree in History in 2017.

Brianna Rice

Fund & Operations Analyst

Brianna Rice joined Great Mountain Partners in 2022 as Fund & Operations Analyst. In her role, Bri is responsible for fund accounting, client reporting, fund tax preparation and valuation of fund positions. Prior to joining the GMP team she spent 6 years at Deloitte working in the tax division with a focus in the financial services industry. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, cum laude, from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Pavel Stolarczyk

Associate

Pavel Stolarczyk is an Associate at Great Mountain Partners. Most recently, he worked for the Hartford Investment Management Company (HIMCO) as an Assistant Vice President. While at HIMCO, he was responsible for investment due diligence, monitoring, and strategy in the Infrastructure and Energy Transition portfolio. Before joining HIMCO, Pavel was an Investment Specialist at the State of Michigan Retirement Systems (SMRS), where he contributed his expertise to the Real Return & Opportunistic portfolio. Pavel received a BA in Finance from Michigan State University.

Stella Tang

Fund Accountant

Stella Tang is a Fund Accountant at Great Mountain Partners. In her role, Stella is responsible for fund accounting, client reporting, fund tax preparation and valuation of fund positions. Prior to joining the GMP team, she was a senior fund reporting accountant as SS&C, the largest fund administration company. Prior to this role, Stella held accounting roles in various companies in the financial industry and worked in public accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA from California State University, Los Angeles and an M.S. in statistics from the University of California, Los Angeles. 

Alejandro Sarmiento

Analyst

Alejandro “Ale” Sarmiento is an Analyst at Great Mountain Partners, where he is responsible for performing due diligence on new investment opportunities and assisting with portfolio company operations. Alejandro graduated from NYU’s Stern School of Business with a B.S. in Business & Political Economy and a Minor in History in 2022.

Cristina Martins

Executive Assistant & Office Manager

Cristina Martins is responsible for scheduling, office management, event planning and community outreach. Having first met Jon Rotolo and Alex Thomson in 2006 at Wood Creek Capital Management, she continued to provide support to them during their time at Barings, and in July 2020 joined the team at Great Mountain Partners. Ms. Martins graduated with a BA in Communications from the University of Connecticut.

Lindsey Boucher

Graphic Designer & Controller

Lindsey Boucher has been working with Jon Rotolo and Alex Thomson since 2004. She assisted in various support roles at the start of Wood Creek Capital Management as well as implementing the design for White Papers, Commentaries and Market Reports as the company grew. She also created occasional illustrations for these publications and logos for start-up investments. At Great Mountain Partners she continues to contribute in the areas of graphic design, copy edit, human resources and bookkeeping. Lindsey holds a BA in Fine Art, magna cum laude, from Gordon College in Wenham, MA.
